Mr. Gardner is an associate in Sterne Kessler's Electronics Group. He specializes in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has worked with a broad range of technologies, including encoders and decoders, image processing, robotics, electrical components, networking, consumer appliances, aeronautics, computer systems and controls, and wireless communications.
Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Mr. Gardner was an associate at an intellectual property boutique in Washington D.C where he focused on the preparation and prosecution of patents. His experience also includes serving as a patent examiner at the USPTO, in Alexandria, Virginia. In this position, he examined technologies, including image processing, networking, communications, software, and controls.
Mr. Gardner spent a number of years as an electrical engineer at Orbital Sciences Corporation in Chandler, Arizona. As an engineer, Mr. Gardner played a key role in the design, integration, validation, and launch of rockets, including those under the Minotaur, Ground-based Midcourse Defense, and Kinetic Energy Interceptor programs.
During law school, Mr. Gardner worked as an intern at Hypertherm Inc. in Hanover, New Hampshire where he worked on electrical technologies related to the company’s high powered plasma cutters. He supported in-house counsel in prosecuting patents and managing licensing issues and pre-litigation matters. Mr. Gardner also interned for an intellectual property boutique in Alexandria, Virginia, where his work focused on the prosecution of patents related to televisions, video games, aeronautics, printers and faxes, and automotive electronics.
Mr. Gardner is a member of the Arizona Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association.
