Mr. Varughese concentrates his practice on patent litigation with a special emphasis on pharmaceutical patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Act. 

Mr. Varughese has litigated cases involving a broad range of technologies in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological arts, including controlled-release polymers, hypoglycemic treatments, antilipidemic treatments, antimalarials, nutritional supplements, microfluidics, and in vivo imaging.  His experience includes pre-filing investigations, discovery, expert witness preparation, Markman proceedings, dispositive motions, and trial.  He also has experience in reexamination proceedings co-pending with district court actions.

Additionally, Mr. Varughese has extensive experience in counseling clients on FDA regulatory matters, early commercialization strategies, patent settlement and licensing, supply and distribution agreements, drug products liability, and antitrust issues bearing on pharmaceutical patent settlements.   

Mr. Varughese is also a contributing author of Patent Office Litigation, Second Edition, published in 2017, the book provides a fresh and comprehensive exploration of patent office litigation proceedings, including how the proceedings interact with other aspects of patent procurement and enforcement, while delivering practical analysis and advice.

In law school, Mr. Varughese was an associate editor on the Temple Law Review and was awarded the Barrister Award for excellence in trial advocacy, the Podwil Memorial Prize for excellence in intellectual property, and the Matkoff Scholarship award. 

Prior to law school, Mr. Varughese completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in conjunction with Rutgers University.  He worked in the area of Strategic Medical Development and served as an adjunct professor of pharmacy.  He is a licensed pharmacist in Pennsylvania.
