Dr. Ali is a technical specialist in the firm’s Electronics Group. She is primarily involved in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Her technical areas of expertise are semiconductor materials and devices, polymeric materials, carbon nanotubes, solid-state sensors, biosensors, nanotechnology, microelectronics fabrication techniques, and material and device characterization techniques. Dr. Ali has also been involved in all phases of multiple inter partes review proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board for both the patent owner and petitioner. Representative technologies include communications, semiconductor device and processing, hearing aids, and nanomaterials.
Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Dr. Ali was Adjunct Faculty in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the Catholic University of America. She taught courses on solid-state devices and microelectronic circuits.
Dr. Ali’s post-doctoral research focused on high-energy storage device and technology. She researched carbon nanotube films for the development of high-energy supercapacitors. Her work involved synthesizing porous anodic alumina templates, developing carbon nanotube films using the templates, and characterizing the nanotubes using structural and electrical characterization techniques.
Dr. Ali’s doctoral research focused on nanotechnology, semiconductor nanomaterials, polymeric materials, and solid-state gas sensors. She developed highly responsive gas sensors using semiconductor nanostructures. She was directly involved with the synthesis of the nanostructures using polymeric templates, characterization of the nanostructures, design and fabrication of gas sensing devices using the nanostructures, and testing of the fabricated devices.
