Mr. Bird is an associate in the firm’s Electronics Group. His practice currently focuses on patent prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Bird has also been involved in inter partes review proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board for patent owners.
Before joining Sterne Kessler, Mr. Bird practiced as an associate at an intellectual property boutique focusing on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the computer, electrical, and software arts. Distributed storage systems, virtualized infrastructure, mobile device applications, real-time control systems, real-time image processing systems, graphical user interfaces, machine learning, business and web software, and cryptographic authentication systems are examples of the broad range of technologies where Mr. Bird has experience representing clients.
Mr. Bird graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and was elected to Eta Kappa Nu (Electrical Engineering honor society) and Tau Beta Pi (Engineering honor society). While in law school, Mr. Bird served as a law clerk at an intellectual property boutique in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and as a Production Editor of the Duquesne Law Review.
