On Wednesday, October 24, 2012, a U.S. International Trade Commission judge determined that Samsung infringed four of Apple's utility and design patents in a case brought against Samsung by Apple. The one design patent found to have been infringed was obtained for Apple by Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox - D618,678 (ornamental design of an electronic device). This case marks one of many brought about by the two companies. In August, a Silicon Valley jury found that Samsung infringed six of Apple’s patents and ordered Samsung to pay Apple $1.05 billion in damages. All three of the design patents found to be infringed in that matter were obtained for Apple by Sterne Kessler.
