Rob Sterne, Jon Wright and Sal Bezos kicked off Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox's spring law school presentation series on Tuesday, February 22 at the George Washington University School of Law.  Sterne, Wright, and Bezos gave an interactive presentation on conducting oral arguments in front of the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (BPAI) to the school's intellectual property students and professors.  The presentation was entitled "Oral Arguments at the Board."

The hour-long discussion focused on helpful tactics that best assist attorneys in preparing to deliver an oral argument at the BPAI.  Rather than simply stating the "do's and don'ts," the team engaged in an open dialogue to provide information about the essentials and the "know-knows."  Drawing from their own experiences, the presenters gave various examples of the differences between arguments in front of the Board versus the Federal Circuit.

The presentation concluded in a question and answer session with the audience.  Students and attendees asked detailed questions centered around the spoken differences between the BPAI and Federal Circuit, the future impact of newer laws on oral arguments, and the advantages and disadvantages of ex parte over inter partes.  The session wrapped up with students' questions career opportunities and paths at Sterne Kessler.
