IP Law360 published an article reporting that Teresa Stanek Rea plans to step down from her position as the Deputy Director of the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Rea assumed the position following the resignation of the USPTO’s director David Kappos, guiding the USPTO’s transition to post-America Invents Act practices and procedures. Her successor will assume many responsibilities. Mike Messinger was quoted in the article, stating, "The USPTO's next leader will need to guide the office through recent changes to U.S. patent law and expand both the central and regional patent offices under serious budget constraints."
