On October 25, 2012, we hosted a webinar entitled "The Interface Between District Court Litigation and Contested Office Proceedings under the AIA." Presenters were Robert Greene Sterne, Donald R. Banowit and Jonathan M. Strang. This webinar, the sixth in a series focused on the many facets of patent reform, addresses how new contested proceedings under the AIA, including Inter Partes Review, Covered Business Method Patent Review and Post Grant Review, can be used in connection with pending and future district court litigation. This webinar also compares and contrasts patentability challenges at the Office to validity challenges at the district court, and discusses how these similarities and differences may drive strategic decisions.
